About Peninsula Enrichment Program
Peninsula Enrichment Program, Inc. is a non-profit corporation with more than 30 years experience on the Palos Verdes Peninsula serving approximately 1,000 students annually. PEP has offered successful high-quality, low-cost summer school programs, employing Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District personnel, since 1979.
Dates
June 21 - July 16, July 5 is a holiday.
Hours
8:15 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. with a 15-minute mid-morning break.
NOTE: There will be no supervision at the school before 8:00 a.m. and after
12:30 p.m. each day. Please make arrangements for your student to leave the school promptly.
Eligibility
Students entering the 6th, 7th or 8th grades in Fall, 2010. There is no residency requirement.
Registration
By mail ONLY to PEP Center, P.O. Box 4027, Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA 90274. Fill out the Class Registration Form and
Emergency Form and enclose a check for $400.00 made payable to PEP. Tuition assistance is available to those students that qualify for the States Cal Works Supplemental Funding. Include your State Cal Works number on the application for verification of eligibility. To receive a confirmation that your application has been received, please
enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Summer School class assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Late registration will be accepted after June 1,
but many classes will be closed by that date. It is important that students register NOW for the classes of their choice. PEP reserves the
right to reassign teachers and to add teachers when necessary. Classes with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled, and students placed
in alternate choices. A processing fee of $25.00 will be charged on all withdrawals before June 1, 2010. NO REFUNDS will be made after June
1, 2010. Be certain of your choices. No changes will be made after Summer School begins.
Recommendations
Recommendation Form required for advanced math students is located on the reverse side of the Registration Form.
Class Schedules
Schedule of each student’s classes will be distributed the first day of Summer School at 8:00 a.m. outside of the Attendance
Office at Miraleste and at the Palos Verdes Multipurpose Room (MPR). NO CLASS SCHEDULES WILL BE GIVEN BY TELEPHONE.
If PEP is unable to assign 4 of the 6 choices you have selected, you will be called for additional choices before Summer School
begins.
Evaluation
Each student will receive evaluations of progress and achievement in academic classes at the end of Summer School.
Attendance
A record of daily attendance will be kept for each student. Students must bring a note from parent or guardian to be readmitted
to school following an absence or tardiness. If a student plans to be absent more than three consecutive days, please note on
Registration Form. Students starting after June 21 may not enroll in Biolab, Chem Lab, Marine Biology or Woodshop.
Early Check-out
Students should bring a note to the teacher for early dismissal and arrange to meet parent in the school office to be checked-out.
Visitors
Because of space and insurance constraints, students may not bring visitors to class.
Behavior
If a problem persists, and the teacher has exhausted all available corrective measures, including contacting the parents, the student
will be dismissed with no refund.
Appearance
Students are to be appropriately dressed. Shoes must be worn at all times. Hats are not allowed.
